Five-year peak for venture investment

Hedge funds have helped propel US venture capital investment to its highest first-quarter level in five years and the average deal size to its largest since the end of 2000.

More than $6bn (€4.9bn) was committed to US venture capital deals during the first three months of the year, according to The Wall Street Journal, citing figures released by research company VentureOne.
