Fixed income veteran Thomas quits Merrill

Paul Thomas, co-head of Merrill Lynch's global rates division, has resigned leaving Barry Wittlin to run the business.

Thomas, an 18-year industry veteran, has decided to leave Merrill after a decade to retire and return to his native Canada, according to an internal memo.
