Ex-Getco chief to lead HFT lobby group

The new body has been set up by four electronic-trading firms at a time when high-speed traders remain firmly under the gaze of regulators

One of the architects of the European division of Getco, the pioneering US electronic trading and market-making firm, is to lead a new lobby group in Europe for high-frequency traders, which remain under intense scrutiny from regulators.

Mark Spanbroek, the former head of business development at Getco Europe, will serve as vice-chairman of the FIA European Principal Traders Association, the first European lobby group to represent the interests of firms that trade on their own account.
