FSA targets travel and entertainment in purge on soft commissions

The Financial Services Authority, the UK regulatory body, has suggested that a variety of expenses incurred by investment managers should not be covered by soft commission arrangements.

In a policy update today, it said that the services which should be excluded relate to the valuation or performance measurement of portfolios; dedicated telephone lines; subscriptions for publications; most custody services and travel, accommodation and entertainment expenses.
