European stocks rise ahead of a week of data releases

Stocks across Europe were modestly higher Monday, beginning a new quarter with a heavy week of data and updates including from the European Central Bank, MarketWatch reports.

The Stoxx Europe 600 index gained 0.2% to 381.68, with oil and gas, basic material and healthcare shares rising. But financial, consumer services and technology shares were in the red.
