Funds demand Exxon clean up

US oil giant ExxonMobil was described as "stubborn" by representatives of pension funds and institutional investors with combined assets of $658bn (€513bn) as they protested the company's failure to pursue alternative energy solutions in a conference call.

The discussion was organised by a coalition of 17 US pension fund and other institutional investors in an effort to secure a face-to-face-meeting with independent directors of the Exxon board.
