Gabelli profits fall but assets rise sharply

Gabelli Asset Management, the fund group founded by Mario Gabelli, and which specialises in event-driven investment, saw net profits and revenues fall last year but assets under management rose 30% to $27bn (€21.8bn).

The group said higher compensation costs and legal and insurance expenses related to Sarbanes-Oxley had contributed to the decline in operating income.
