Gap between best and worst plans widens

The difference between the best and worst performing UK pension schemes increased to a record 30 percentage points last year.

Data supplied by Hewitt Associates covering the industry shows the top performing 20th of schemes saw their assets fall by 0.8% last year while the bottom 20th suffered a 27.1% decline. Upper quartile schemes fell in value by 13.3% against -21.3% in the lower quartile.
