Janet Gaymer, senior partner at Simmons & Simmons, is leaving the corporate law firm to become commissioner for public appointments in England & Wales. She is the only female senior partner of a major City of London law firm.
The commissioner oversees and regulates appointments made by ministers of the UK government and the National Assembly for Wales, and a range of quangos, agencies and other public bodies.
