Germany to decide on Reits

Germany's finance minister has submitted a draft law for the introduction of real estate investment trusts, a type of tax-efficient property investment vehicle. If government departments approve the legislation they could be used as early as next year.

The German government had originally planned to introduce legislation to allow for reits in the beginning of 2006, but this was put back over concerns that foreign investors would avoid capital gains tax.
