Goldman Sachs has hired its second private equity dealmaker in as many weeks from a big US rival in London, as banks fight to win advisory roles from buyout firms that have almost $2tn in unspent money.

The US bank has brought in Melissa Plaza-Marriott, who most recently spent more than four years at Morgan Stanley in its financial sponsors team, a spokesman confirmed.
