Goldman Sachs, the top ranked investment bank for mergers and acquisitions, has appointed Milton Berlinski, one of its star M&A investment bankers, to co-head its financial sponsors group.

Berlinski will work with Sean Mahoney, who previously ran the financial sponsors group alone, to boost the bank's business in lending to leveraged buy-out companies and other financial sponsors. He will be based in New York.
