Gotham Partners adds to hedge fund gloom with closures

Gotham Partners Management, a US hedge fund, has told investors that it plans to wind down its main funds in the latest piece of bad news for the hedge fund industry.

A fifth of hedge funds around the world closed in 2002, according to Tremont Advisers, the consultant and index provider. There are predictions of a marked acceleration in the rate of closures this year.
