Hancock confirms local lockdown for north east as coronavirus cases increase across the UK

Health Secretary Matt Hancock has confirmed that the north east of England will have a local lockdown from tomorrow as coronavirus cases rise across the country.

Hancock told parliament that people in the region “should not socialise with other people outside their own household or support bubble.” Hospitality venues would be closed between 10pm and 5am and restaurants and pubs would be restricted to table service, he added.
