Hedge funds make £100m from Sainsbury's profit warning

Hedge funds are thought to have made up to £100m ($180m) this morning as a result of the profits warning issued by J Sainsbury, the UK food retailer, according to one data provider.

Hedge funds have spent the past nine months taking short positions, or selling shares they had borrowed in anticipation of a fall in price in Sainsbury's stock.
