Hermes manager returns to UK

Robert Clements, the Hermes fund manager embroiled in allegations of illegal share trading in South Korea, has left the company.

The Korean regulator filed a criminal complaint against Clements and Hermes last week, alleging the group illegally profited from selling Samsung shares after spreading rumours that the conglomerate was the target of a hostile takeover. Clements, a director of emerging markets at the asset manager, is understood to have left in April after he broke rules on personal share dealing.
