High net worth investors flock to alternatives

High net worth investors and family offices are increasing their allocations to alternative investments, including hedge funds, according to a report from Merrill Lynch and Cap Gemini Ernst & Young.

The report says high net worth investors increasingly view alternative investments as a comparatively safe method of diversification, mainly because of their low correlation with stock market performance.
