HMV appoints Numis as sale talk continues

Music and DVD retail chain to swap Citigroup and Nomura for Numis, handing the UK adviser its fourteenth broking mandate win of the past 10 months

HMV, the UK entertainment retail chain, has employed Numis as its financial adviser and corporate broker, as the firm continues to review its business structure. It marks Numis’s fourteenth broking mandate win in the past 10 months.

Numis will replace Nomura as corporate broker over the coming months. According to a source familiar with the situation, HMV, with a £14m market capitalisation, was "too small a mandate for Nomura".
