HSBC's fund management arm has appointed a new head to replace John Flint, who has been promoted to become chief-of-staff to the UK bank's group chief executive Stuart Gulliver after just two years in the job.

Flint was made chief executive of HSBC Global Asset Management, the UK bank's $453bn fund management arm, in 2009. His move to become Gulliver's chief-of-staff will take effect at the beginning of 2012. He was previously group treasurer prior to moving to HSBC GAM.
