Icap gets China go-ahead

Icap, the world's largest interdealer broker has been given approved to set up a joint venture brokerage firm in China.

The decision by the China Banking Regulatory Commission paves the way for Icap to form a joint venture with the China Foreign Exchange Trade System. This will allow Icap to compete in China alongside rival Collins Stewart's Tullett Prebon arm, which formed a similar joint venture firm in the country last year.
