Indebted nappy-maker receives €50m Candover pledge

Candover has pledged a €50m ($67m) equity rescue package to save nappy-maker Ontex from sliding towards default, in a rare move likely to raise fresh concerns over the level of gearing in leveraged buyouts.

The new injection of capital would increase Candover's stake in the Belgian manufacturer of hygiene and baby products from 45% to 80%, according to one source.
