ING investment banking profits slump in fourth quarter

ING Group's corporate and investment banking unit reported a €58m ($50m) loss in the fourth quarter of 2001, although the full year decline in profits was not as bad as some competitors'.

The division formerly known as executive centre ING corporate and investment banking - before it was rebranded last year - was hit by &quotcontinued low revenues and high risk costs&quot, according to ING Group's annual results statement.
