ING takes €100m hit on reinsurance unit sale

ING has taken a €100m ($145m) hit after the Dutch financial group sold its reinsurance business to billionaire US investor Warren Buffett for €300m.

Nederlandse Reassurantie Groep was bought by ING 33 years ago, however the unit had not conducted new business since 1993, and the bank said it was offloading the subsidiary despite having to take a €100m post-tax capital loss.
