International investors seek Canadian venture capital

Venture capital investment in Canada jumped 133% in the third quarter to $1.1bn (€1.2bn), with a significant boost from foreign investors, according to the latest figures from the Canadian Venture Capital Association.

This brings foreign investment from institutions and other investors to provided $1.6bn, or 46% of the total assets invested in the first nine months of 2000. The level of investment from non-Canadians this year is already well above the $1bn brought by such investors for the whole of 1999.
