Group shrugs off investment banking shortfall

Investment banking profits dropped 10% at Investec in the first six months of its financial year, but strong performances from asset management and private clients pushed group results up 53%.

The investment bank, listed in both London and South Africa, made pretax profits of £95.9m (€137m) in the six months to September 30 up from £62.7m in the same period a year ago
