Investment banking bonuses at risk over UK tax loophole

A bonus scheme used by up to 20 investment banks and securities firms could be outlawed after an investigation by the UK's tax authorities.

The Inland Revenue is examining a legal loophole used by some investment banks - which are among the country's biggest taxpayers - for adopting bonuses schemes that reduce national insurance payments.
