Investment banks lose out as in-house deals reach all-time high

The value of European mergers and acquisitions being done without investment banking advisers is running at a record high.

About 30% of announced European M&A this year has been achieved without external advisers, according to Thomson Financial, the data provider. The proportion of M&A deals done without advisers has been rising steadily over the past six months.
