Investors should steer clear when Lyft goes public

The ride-hailing firm and Uber rival is one of a number of so-called unicorns set to come to market, but investors should stand back until there is a clear road to profitability

Lyft will soon be going public, the first of a herd of celebrated unicorns expected to do so this year. Its new shares will offer exposure to a capital-light company that promises to disrupt the $1.2tn US transportation market.

But investors should avoid booking a ride on this stock just yet.
