Ireland’s regulator delivers a ‘wait and see’ on ETFs

Financial watchdogs in Ireland — home to more than half of the $811bn saved into exchange-traded funds by Europeans —  have said they will not pursue any radical change to rules governing the popular index-tracking investments, for now.

The Central Bank of Ireland issued a discussion paper on the ETF sector in May last year, claiming it wanted a better grasp on how the products operated, particularly in stressed market conditions.
