Italian and Spanish rivals close in on Tamoil

Italian oil company ERG and its Spanish rival Repsol are reportedly among the last bidders in the running to buy Libyan oil refiner Tamoil.

According to La Repubblica, the Italian daily, ERG has contacted Barclays, Capitalia, Royal Bank of Scotland and Unicredit to provide financing for the deal, which is expected to fetch up to €3bn ($3.8bn).
