And so, it has come pass. In reaction to the headwinds blowing across the asset management sector, London-based Henderson Group and Janus Capital of Denver have agreed to merge.

The deal will create a combined group managing $320 billion and harks back to Henderson trading on market anxiety after the 2008 credit crisis to buy not just not one, but two, asset managers: New Star Asset Management and Gartmore.
