Janus Capital Group, the Denver independent fund management company, has hired Girard Miller as executive vice-president and chief operating officer, but is still seeking a new chief investment officer.

Miller joins from ICMA Retirement Corporation (ICMA-RC) where he was president and chief executive officer and had built up the company's assets under management from $3bn (€2.6bn) to $17bn in the past decade.
