Japan calls for international hedge fund rules

Japan's Financial Services Agency has called on regulators worldwide to establish a co-ordinated response to hedge funds, which it claims have a growing impact on financial stability.

The agency said in its first study of hedge funds, published last month: "Strengthening of international co-operation is imperative."
