Japanese banks consolidate asset management arms

Sanwa Bank, Tokai Bank and the Toyo Trust and Banking Company are set to consolidate their asset management arms into one unit, following the banks' merger earlier this year.

The changes will be finalised in April, subject to shareholder approval. The three banks believe the move will increase efficiency and boost competitiveness. The new unit will cater for both retail and institutional clients.
