Johnson to fly to Brussels as conditions deemed ‘not there’ for agreeing a Brexit deal

It follows a lengthy phone call between Johnson and the EU's Von der Leyen to hammer out a deal

The conditions for a deal to be agreed between the EU and the UK “are not there”, the leaders of the two sides said, indicating that drawn-out negotiations in Brussels are to continue this week.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen held a virtual phone call on 7 December to discuss the progress made in negotiations so far, lasting almost two hours.
