While crypto was burning in May 2022, Julian Sawyer was speeding down Route 66 in Texas in an open-top Ford Mustang.

He had just resigned as chief executive of Bitstamp, the world’s sixth-largest crypto exchange, and immediately flew to the US for an eight-day road trip with his 21-year-old son.
