Companies tap equity markets for deal funding

The value of follow-on transactions by Emea companies looking to fund acquisitions has more than doubled this year

Companies in Europe, the Middle East and Africa have used follow-on transactions in the equities markets to raise almost $14bn for acquisitions this year – more than double the amount raised at the same point in 2011.

The figure accounts for rights issues and acquisition-related accelerated offerings carried out over the year to August 16 for the purpose of funding M&A deals, according to data provider Dealogic.
