Kent council backs decision to oust Woodford and close fund

Council was Woodford’s only local-government pension fund investor

Kent County Council, the single biggest investor in Neil Woodford’s flagship fund, has backed the decision to oust the once-celebrated portfolio manager and shut down the multibillion-pound investment vehicle.

In a statement provided to Financial News, the superannuation fund said the closure of the £2.9bn Equity Income fund was “in the best interests of all the fund’s investors”.
