Chris Cuffe, the chief executive of the Kerry Packer family-backed Challenger Financial Services in Australia, is stepping down as head of the group after just 15 months.

Cuffe, the former Colonial First State executive who collected a golden handshake of more than $A30m ($21m) when he left that business, will move to develop Challenger's wealth management businesses.
