KKR hires Soros executive to lead digital infrastructure push

Private equity firm raised $7.4bn for its third global infrastructure fund last year

KKR has hired a senior executive from billionaire George Soros's investment firm to help spearhead its push into a growing area of infrastructure investing: communications.

Waldemar Szlezak joined KKR earlier this month to head up the firm's communications infrastructure investment team in North America, according to a person familiar with the matter. He joins around six months after KKR raised $7.4bn for its third global infrastructure fund, more than double the size of a $3.1bn predecessor that closed in 2015.
