Lazard begins hunt for Parmalat debt

Lazard has started the hunt to identify the source and size of the debts of Parmalat as part of a plan to restructure the crisis-torn Italian food group.

Lazard and Mediobanca were confirmed as advisers to Parmalat late on Monday. The group has been struggling to repay its outstanding liabilities. Its debt was downgraded to junk status by rating agency Standard & Poor's last week following liquidity concerns.
