Lazard takes Kingfisher further into continental Europe

Lazard has secured its relationship with Kingfisher, one of Europe's largest retailers, by advising on its latest investment in Hornbach-Baumarkt, Germany's leading home improvements warehouse retailer.

Kingfisher has taken control of 20% of Hornbach-Baumarkt, which operates 90 stores across five European countries. Kingfisher described the deal as a strategic move. Its last significant move into continental Europe was its 1998 takeover of Castorama, France's largest home improvement retailers, on which Lazard and Goldman advised.
