Liffe takes on Eurex with bond futures launch

Euronext.liffe, the London-based pan-European exchange is to launch a family of government bond futures in a direct attempt to wrest back control of the fixed income futures business from arch-rival, Eurex.

On November 13 the exchange will list a set of European government bond index-based contracts, including a Eurozone index future, as well as French, Italian and German sub-index futures. In early 2007 it will add to the group, with a contract linked to a European inflation index.
