Liffe waives fees in interest rate push

London-based derivatives market NYSE Liffe has made a direct challenge to rivals, including US exchange giant the Chicago Mercantile Exchange by waiving the fee it charges new clients trading interest rate contracts.

Liffe, Europe's second largest derivatives market, this week unveiled an incentive scheme that offers prospective customers, including hedge funds and asset managers, free trading of its short-term interest rate options contract - either for six months or for their first million contracts.
