London to be moved into tougher tier-two restrictions

New restrictions take effect at midnight on Friday, stopping households mixing indoors

London will be moved to the more severe “high” Covid-19 tier, following discussions between government, MPs and local authorities.

Multiple London boroughs now exceed the threshold of 100 confirmed cases of coronavirus per 100,000 people, prompting officials to put the capital's nine million or so people under tougher restrictions.
