Lord Sainsbury weighs in on CGT tax debate

Lord Sainsbury, a UK peer, has told industry representatives at a conference on technology he believes the Government should give benefits to investors backing small businesses and start-ups, amid attempts by private equity representatives to lobby against changes to the tax regime.

Sainsbury said he believes the current system for taxing capital gains would benefit from simplification but said if startup investors made a good enough case he was confident the Government would take this into consideration.
