The chief executive of M&G has said the FTSE 100 group is in “active talks” to strike deals with alternative asset managers in Europe, as the London-headquartered investment firm seeks to expand its private markets capabilities.

Andrea Rossi, who has overseen the £346bn group since October 2022, has previously cited an ambition to bolster M&G’s private markets expertise by buying stakes in smaller Europe-based specialist players.
