Law firm Macfarlanes has named Charles Martin, one of the leading deal advisers to the private equity industry, as a senior partner in its London office following a reshuffle in top-line management.

Next May Martin will succeed Robert Sutton, who is stepping down after nine years as a senior partner in the firm, in a reorganisation that also sees Simon Martin replace Paul Phippen as managing partner.
