Malaysia authorises short-selling after nine-year ban

Bursa Malaysia said it had reauthorised rules on securities borrowing and short-selling with effect from yesterday. This will allow hedge funds to borrow share certificates and sell them on the open market in the hope of buying them back after a fall in price.
