Man Group makes $1.7bn from broker float

UK-listed hedge fund manager Man Group has disclosed a one-off gain of $1.7bn (€1.2bn) from July's flotation of broker MF Global, as the group reported an 11% increase in assets under management to $68.6bn at the end of September.

The group, which runs funds of hedge funds and single-manager hedge funds, said its assets under management had increased from $61.7bn to $68.6bn. This was mainly due to net inflows of capital into the funds, despite redemptions of $4.4bn. Positive investment performance accounted for $2.9bn of the increase.
